Cleaning/sanitation
What soaps/detergents should be used to clean the fiberglass body exterior?
A.The exterior can be power washed with a mild detergent that can easily be rinsed away. To prevent the vinyl graphics from becoming loose and/or removed, do not use high pressure or wash too close to the body.

What is the best way to maintain the gloss finish on the seamless exterior of the refrigerated truck body?
A.To restore gloss and protect the finish, the exterior of your fiberglass body should be waxed at least twice yearly. Use only wax recommended for fiberglass and follow instructions carefully. Never wax a gel coat surface in direct sunlight.

What should we use to sanitize the interior of the refrigerated truck body?
A.It is important to establish and maintain a regular cleaning and sanitation protocol for the food product(s) being transported. The seamless fiberglass ArcticTherm™ liner used in Johnson Premier Bodies is FDA approved for food contact and is designed for easy inspection, power wash cleaning and disinfection. To determine the requirments for the specific food products that you may be transporting, consult the applicable local, state and national food safety cleaning and sanitation guidelines/requirements. Door seals
What are the use/application advantages of your Triple Door seal vs. traditional door sealing methods?
A.The TripleSeal™ gasket has proven extremely effective in solving a special door-opening problem that is created when there is a warm, humid ambient outdoor atmosphere, and a driving rain combined with a dry/very cold or frozen environment inside the truck body. In refrigerated delivery there are many stops and door openings during a daily route, and the above condition creates a low-pressure situation inside the truck body that frequently “sucks,” or pulls the outside elements past traditional door seals and into the body. With the TripleSeal™ gasket, the potential for heat and moisture to enter the body is reduced, significantly improving thermal efficiency. Traditional refrigerated body door seals have been single contact point rubber wiper, or “bulb” type gaskets.

Eutectic cold plates
What are the initial purchase/acquisition cost differences between a cold plate vs. mechanical blower?
A.The initial cost savings using a cold plate system is approximately 40 to 50 percent.

What is the operational cost savings?
A.The recharging electrical cost for a cold plate system is approximately $0.40/hr. The operating cost for a mechanical system, allowing for diesel fuel cost and unit maintenance, is approximately $1.95/hr. If it is a leased system, the cost is approximately $2.30/hr.

In basic terms, how does a cold plate work?
A.Cold plate refrigeration uses frozen eutectic plates inside the body compartment to absorb heat (very similar to the ice pack used in a picnic cooler) to maintain desired temperature levels. These passive plates are “refrozen” each day during a 6 to 8 hour plug-in. Overall, they are the most reliable refrigeration systems available, and are offered in medium temperature, low temperature and deep frozen product protection ranges.

Fiberglass repair
How difficult/easy is it to repair a damaged fiberglass body?
A.Should there be damage to the exterior or interior of a Johnson fiberglass body, the repair is easy and very similar to that used for a fiberglass truck hood or fender. The end result returns the body to like new condition. Repairability of fiberglass is one of its best characteristics. Damage can be easily repaired with any standard fiberglass repair kit, bondo and automotive urethane top care that will be indistinguishable from the original. The repaired area will be just as durable as the rest of the body.

Insulation
What is the difference between your 2.1-lb. foamed in-place insulation and other insulation types?
A.Johnson utilizes void free, foamed-in-place under pressure and temperature controlled 2.1-lb. density urethane insulation that provides structural integrity, the best possible barrier to heat penetration. Other insulation types and construction processes can have voids in the insulation that allows heat and condensation from the outside to penetrate into the refrigerated body.

What are the advantages of a fiberglass body skin vs. aluminum?
A.Fiberglass is the first barrier to heat gain. A 1/8-in. thick fiberglass exterior panel is also much easier to repair and is a barrier that is impervious to moisture.

Interior liner
Do your fiberglass interior body liners meet FDA Food Safety requirements?
A.Johnson’s ArcticTherm™ liner meets FDA Food Safety contact requirements.

PowerPlatform
What types of driver safety features have you incorporated with the operational use of the platform?
A.Platform operation is easy with an in-body hand held remote or outside toggle switch. To ensure maximum safety, there is an audible alarm and a pressure-sensitive safety switch around the platform perimeter

Do you have documented time savings in using a PowerPlatform drop floor vs. a traditional lift gate?
A.In direct store deliveries, the PowerPlatform drop floor can save up to one hour of delivery time.

Rust/corrosion protection
What can be done to protect the cross sill members on the body underside from rust and corrosion?
A.All Johnson bodies are sealed with a subpan and totally encapsulated in foam to protect against rust and road salt corrosion.

Slide-in and van conversions
Can your slide-in be moved to different pick-up trucks?
A.Yes, installation and removal is easy. Cold plate slide-ins are completely self contained and can be transferred to another body by removing 4 bolts.

What is the best type of pick-up truck to handle the size and weight of your slide-in?
A.The unit is designed to easily fit in the back of any standard 3/4-ton pick-up truck.

What are the different application areas for a small delivery vehicle?
A.They are ideal for short run deliveries or pick-ups of seafood, poultry, meat, dairy, produce, groceries, plants and flowers.
